Bills Signed Into Law or Vetoed - March 15-19, 1999

Most bills passed by the Legislature must be sent to the Governor for review. The Governor may choose to sign a bill into law, veto (disapprove) a bill, or, for appropriations bills, issue an item veto, in which portions of a bill are disapproved and the remainder approved. The Legislature may override a veto or item veto by two-thirds of the members of the Senate and House voting to pass the bill again. Bills signed into law are normally effective July 1.
