PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 8D.3, subsection 3, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph: 1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. k. Provide necessary telecommunications 1 4 cabling to provide state communications. 1 5 Sec. 2. Section 18.8, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code 1999, 1 6 is amended to read as follows: 1 7 The director shall provide necessarytelecommunications1 8cabling,lighting, fuel, and water services for the state 1 9 buildings and grounds located at the seat of government, 1 10 except the buildings and grounds referred to in section 1 11 216B.3, subsection 6. 1 12 Sec. 3. TRANSFER OF FULL-TIME EQUIVALENT POSITIONS AND 1 13 RELATED FUNDING. 1 14 1. Consistent with this Act, full-time equivalent 1 15 positions in the department of general services associated 1 16 with the provision of telecommunications cabling and funding 1 17 provided for such full-time equivalent positions shall be 1 18 moved from the department to the Iowa telecommunications and 1 19 technology commission. 1 20 2. Any funds in the telecommunications and electric 1 21 cabling revolving fund in the department of general services 1 22 shall be transferred to the commission to be used for the same 1 23 purposes. The commission shall eliminate the revolving fund 1 24 account upon completion of the merger of existing funds. 1 25 EXPLANATION 1 26 This bill moves the responsibility for providing 1 27 telecommunications cabling necessary to provide state 1 28 communications from the department of general services to the 1 29 Iowa telecommunications and technology commission. The bill 1 30 also provides for the transfer of personnel and funding 1 31 associated with providing telecommunications cabling, as well 1 32 as for the transfer of existing funds in the 1 33 telecommunications and electric cabling revolving fund in the 1 34 department of general services. 1 35 LSB 1426XD 78 2 1 mj/jw/5.1
