1 1 Section 1. Section 136C.3, subsection 2, unnumbered
1 2 paragraph 1, Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 3 Establish minimum training standards including continuing
1 4 education requirements, and administer examinations and
1 5 disciplinary procedures for operators of radiation machines
1 6 and users of radioactive materials. A state of Iowa license
1 7 to practice medicine, osteopathy, chiropractic, podiatry,
1 8 dentistry, dental hygiene, or veterinary medicine, or
1 9 licensure as a physician assistant pursuant to chapter 148C,
1 10 or licensure as a registered nurse and registration as an
1 11 advanced registered nurse practitioner pursuant to chapter
1 12 152, or certification by the board of dental examiners in
1 13 dental radiography, or by the board of podiatry examiners in
1 14 podiatric radiography, or enrollment in a program or course of
1 15 study approved by the Iowa department of public health which
1 16 includes the application of radiation to humans satisfies the
1 17 minimum training standards for operation of radiation machines
1 18 only.
1 19 EXPLANATION
1 20 This bill provides that licensure as a registered nurse and
1 21 registration as an advanced registered nurse practitioner
1 22 satisfies the minimum training standards for operation of
1 23 radiation machines.
