  1  4 RELATING TO THE DUTIES AND MEETINGS OF THE COUNTY AGRICULTURAL
  1  5    EXTENSION COUNCILS.

  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 176A.7, subsection 2, Code 1999, is
  1 10 amended to read as follows:
  1 11    2.  Each extension council shall meet during the months of
  1 12 January and July each at least two times during a calendar
  1 13 year and at other times during the year as the council
  1 14 determines.  The date, time, and place of each meeting shall
  1 15 be fixed by the council.
  1 16    Sec. 2.  Section 176A.8, subsections 1 and 8, Code 1999,
  1 17 are amended to read as follows:
  1 18    1.  To elect from their own number annually in January a
  1 19 chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary and a treasurer who
  1 20 shall serve and be the officers of the extension council for a
  1 21 term expiring December 31 each of one year, and perform the
  1 22 functions and duties as herein in this chapter provided.
  1 23    8.  To prepare annually on or before January 31 March 15 a
  1 24 budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending the
  1 25 following June 30, in accordance with the provisions of
  1 26 chapter 24 and certify the same to the board of supervisors of
  1 27 the county of their extension district as required by law.
  1 28    Sec. 3.  Section 176A.8, subsections 2 and 4, Code 1999,
  1 29 are amended by striking the subsections.
  1 30    Sec. 4.  Section 176A.10, unnumbered paragraph 1, Code
  1 31 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 32    The extension council of each extension district shall, at
  1 33 a regular or special meeting held in January in each year
  1 34 before March 15, estimate the amount of money required to be
  1 35 raised by taxation for financing the county agricultural
  2  1 extension education program authorized in this chapter.  The
  2  2 annual tax levy and the amount of money to be raised from the
  2  3 levy for the county agricultural extension education fund
  2  4 shall not exceed the following:
