  1  4 MAKING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
  1  5    BEGINNING JULY 1, 1998, FOR REPLACEMENT OF CERTAIN EMBEDDED
  1  6    CHIPS IN THE TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT OF STATE DEPARTMENTS
  1  7    AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

  1  9 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1 10 
  1 11    Section 1.  DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES – EMBEDDED
  1 12 CHIPS.  There is appropriated from the rebuild Iowa
  1 13 infrastructure fund to the division of information technology
  1 14 services of the department of general services for the fiscal
  1 15 year beginning July 1, 1998, and ending June 30, 1999, to
  1 16 supplement the moneys in the reversion incentive program fund
  1 17 as provided in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 210, section 10, the
  1 18 following amount, or so much thereof as is necessary, to be
  1 19 used for the purpose designated:
  1 20    For the replacement of noncompliant year 2000 embedded
  1 21 chips in the technology and equipment of state departments,
  1 22 notwithstanding section 8.57, subsection 5, paragraph "c":  
  1 23 .................................................. $  2,435,000
  1 24    Moneys appropriated in this section shall be deposited into
  1 25 the reversion incentive program fund created pursuant to 1997
  1 26 Iowa Acts, chapter 210, section 10.
  1 27    Notwithstanding section 8.33, moneys appropriated in this
  1 28 section which remain unencumbered or unobligated at the close
  1 29 of the fiscal year shall not revert but shall remain available
  1 30 for expenditure for the purpose designated until the close of
  1 31 the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and any unobligated or
  1 32 unencumbered moneys remaining on that date shall be credited
  1 33 to the general fund of the state.
  1 34    Sec. 2.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  This Act, being deemed of
  1 35 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment.
