1 2 By IVERSON
1 3 A Resolution congratulating Nick Collison and the 1999
1 4 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Team.
1 5 WHEREAS, the McDonald's All American High School
1 6 Basketball Team has been named for the twenty-third
1 7 consecutive year; and
1 8 WHEREAS, the McDonald's All American High School
1 9 Basketball Team will play in the McDonald's All
1 10 American High School Basketball Game for the twenty-
1 11 second consecutive year; and
1 12 WHEREAS, the 1999 McDonald's All American High
1 13 School Basketball Game will take place on March 24,
1 14 1999, in Ames, Iowa; and
1 15 WHEREAS, at least one former McDonald's All
1 16 American has been a part of a National Collegiate
1 17 Athletic Association (NCAA) championship team since
1 18 1979 and a total of 53 former McDonald's All Americans
1 19 have played a role in at least one NCAA championship
1 20 team; and
1 21 WHEREAS, a total of 20 former McDonald's All
1 22 Americans have played on National Basketball
1 23 Association (NBA) championship teams; and
1 24 WHEREAS, two former McDonald's All Americans,
1 25 Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, have won a combined
1 26 nine NBA Most Valuable Player awards; and
1 27 WHEREAS, nine former McDonald's All Americans have
1 28 been named NBA Rookie of the Year; and
1 29 WHEREAS, thirteen former McDonald's All Americans
1 30 have become the first selection in the NBA draft; and
2 1 WHEREAS, the 1999 McDonald's All American High
2 2 School Basketball Game Selection Committee has chosen
2 3 Majestic Mapp, Jason Williams, Joseph Forte, Kenny
2 4 Satterfield, Casey Sanders, Marvin Stone, Keith
2 5 Bogans, Damien Wilkins, DeMarr Johnson, Donnell
2 6 Harvey, Brett Nelson, Jason Gardner, Jason Kapono,
2 7 Jason Richardson, Jonathan Bender, Brian Cook, LaVell
2 8 Blanchard, Michael Dunleavy, Carlos Boozer, and Nick
2 9 Collison as members of the 1999 McDonald's All
2 10 American High School Basketball Team; and
2 11 WHEREAS, the 1999 McDonald's All American High
2 12 School Basketball Team includes Nick Collison who
2 13 played high school basketball for Iowa Falls High
2 14 School in Iowa Falls, Iowa and has committed to
2 15 playing college basketball at the University of
2 16 Kansas; NOW THEREFORE,
2 17 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the members of
2 18 the 1999 McDonald's All American High School
2 19 Basketball Team be congratulated for their
2 20 accomplishments and many achievements as high school
2 21 basketball players and for being selected to the 1999
2 22 McDonald's All American High School Basketball Team;
2 23 and
2 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Nick Collison be
2 25 congratulated for his success as a high school
2 26 basketball player in the State of Iowa and for being
2 27 only the third high school basketball player from Iowa
2 28 ever to be named to the McDonald's All American High
2 29 School Basketball Team.
