1 4 ESTABLISHING A GOVERNOR'S AWARD FOR QUALITY CARE IN HEALTH
1 5 CARE FACILITIES.

1 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 9 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 135C.20B GOVERNOR'S AWARD –
1 10 QUALITY CARE.
1 11 1. A governor's award for quality care is established, to
1 12 be awarded annually by the governor to a health care facility
1 13 in the state which demonstrates provision of the highest
1 14 quality care to residents.
1 15 2. The department shall adopt rules establishing the
1 16 criteria to determine quality care. In developing the
1 17 criteria, the department shall consult with the members of
1 18 Iowa partners for resident care and shall also consider all of
1 19 the following:
1 20 a. The report cards completed pursuant to section
1 21 135C.20A.
1 22 b. Any unique services provided by a facility to its
1 23 residents to improve the quality of care in the facility.
1 24 c. Any information submitted by care review committee
1 25 members or residents with regard to the quality of care of the
1 26 facility.
1 27 d. Whether the facility accepts residents for whom costs
1 28 of care are paid under chapter 249A.
