1 4 RELATING TO THE FIRE SAFETY PROVISIONS APPLICABLE TO A BED AND
1 5 BREAKFAST INN.

1 7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

1 9 Section 1. Section 137C.35, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code
1 10 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 11 A bed and breakfast inn is subject to regulation,
1 12 licensing, and inspection under this chapter, but separate
1 13 toilet and lavatory facilities shall not be required for each
1 14 guest room. Additionally, a bed and breakfast inn is exempt
1 15 from fire safety rules adopted pursuant to section 100.35 and
1 16 applicable to hotels, but is subject to fire safety rules
1 17 which the state fire marshal shall specifically adopt for bed
1 18 and breakfast inns.
