1 1 Section 1. Section 135H.6, subsection 2, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 2. The proposed psychiatric institution is accredited by
1 4 the joint commission on the accreditation of health care
1 5 organizations, the commission on accreditation of
1 6 rehabilitation facilities, the council on accreditation of
1 7 services for families and children, or by any other federally
1 8 recognized accrediting organization with comparable standards
1 9 that is recognized by the state.
1 10 EXPLANATION
1 11 This bill provides that, for the purpose of obtaining a
1 12 license, in addition to the current accreditation by the joint
1 13 commission on the accreditation of health care organizations,
1 14 psychiatric medical institutions for children may also be
1 15 accredited by the council on accreditation of services for
1 16 families and children, the commission on accreditation of
1 17 rehabilitation facilities, or by any other federally
1 18 recognized accrediting entity with comparable standards that
1 19 is recognized by the state.
