Major '96 Issues: Crime, Public Safety, Taxes

Crime, public safety, and taxes were among the more frequently addressed issues in legislation passed by the 1996 Session of the 76th Iowa General Assembly, which adjourned May 1.

In all, this year's Legislature passed and sent to the Governor a total of 221 bills, as well as one joint resolution not requiring gubernatorial action. Bills must be approved by the Governor in order to become law.
