1 1 Section 1. Section 357A.14, subsection 1, Code 1995, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 1. An owner of real property outside a district which can
1 4 be economically served by the facilities of the district, or
1 5 thirty percent of the owners of all real property lying within
1 6 the outside perimeter of a proposed addition, may petition to
1 7 be attached to the district. The petition shall be filed with
1 8 the auditor, and the auditor and supervisors shall notify the
1 9 district that a petition has been received and proceed in a
1 10 manner set forth in sections 357A.3 through 357A.6.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill provides that 30 percent of the owners of land
1 13 within a proposed addition to a rural water district may
1 14 petition the board of supervisors to attach all of the real
1 15 property in the proposed addition to the district. The board
1 16 of supervisors will approve or disapprove the petition after
1 17 notice and a public hearing for the public and the affected
1 18 property owners and tenants.
