PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 392.6, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code 1 2 1995, is amended to read as follows: 1 3 Cities maintaining an institution as provided for in this 1 4 section which have a board of trustees consisting of three 1 5 members may by ordinance increase the number of members to 1 6 five and provide for the appointment of one of the additional 1 7 members until the next succeeding general or city election, 1 8 and for the appointment of the other additional member until 1 9 the second succeeding general or city election. Thereafter, 1 10 the terms of office of such additional members shall be four 1 11 years. However, if a city has adopted an ordinance which 1 12 increases the number of members of the board of trustees to 1 13 five members and the terms of office of four of the five 1 14 members end in the same year, the date of expiration of the 1 15 term of one of the four members, to be determined by lot, 1 16 shall be extended by an additional two years. 1 17 Sec. 2. Section 392.6, unnumbered paragraph 3, Code 1995, 1 18 is amended to read as follows: 1 19 Terms of office of trustees elected pursuant to general or 1 20 city elections shall begin at noon on the first day in January 1 21 which is not a Sunday or legal holiday. Terms of office of 1 22 trustees elected pursuant to special elections shall begin at 1 23 noon on the tenth day after the special election which is not 1 24 a Sunday or legal holiday. The trustees shallwithin ten days1 25after their election qualifybegin their terms of office by 1 26 taking the oath of office, and organize as a board by the 1 27 election of one of their number as chairperson and one as 1 28 secretary, but no bond shall be required of them. Terms of 1 29 office of trustees shall extend to noon on the first day in 1 30 January which is not a Sunday or legal holiday or until their 1 31 successors are elected and qualified. Trustees who are 1 32 elected at special elections shall serve the unexpired terms 1 33 of office or until their successors are elected and qualified. 1 34 SF 2074 1 35 kah/cc/26
