CONSIDERATION OF BILL (Regular Calendar) Senate File 2062 On motion of Senator Bartz, Senate File 2062, a bill for an act relating to statutory corrections which may adjust language to reflect current practices, insert earlier omissions, delete redundancies and inaccuracies, delete temporary language, resolve inconsistencies and conflicts, update ongoing provisions, or remove ambiguities, and providing effective and retroactive applicability dates, was taken up for consideration. Senator Bartz offered amendment S-5004 filed by the committee on Judiciary on January 18, 1996, to pages 1, 3 and 4 of the bill and moved its adoption. Amendment S-5004 was adopted by a voice vote. UNFINISHED BUSINESS (Deferred Feburary 22, 1996) Senate File 2157 The Senate resumed consideration of Senate File 2157, a bill for an act relating to the duties of the college student aid commission in administering the Iowa guaranteed loan program, creating a chiropractic loan revolving fund, and providing for matters related to the chiropractic graduate student forgivable loan program, deferred February 22, 1996. Senator Bartz withdrew amendment S-5108 filed by him on February 22, 1996, to page 1 and the title page of the bill. Senator Douglas offered amendment S-5111 filed by her on February 22, 1996, to page 2 and the title page of the bill. Senator Fink raised the point of order that amendment S-5111 was not germane to the bill. The Chair ruled the point well taken and amendment S-5111 out of order. ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION (Regular Calendar) Senate Resolution 16 On motion of Senator Banks, Senate Resolution 16, a senate resolution to urge and petition the federal government to reexamine the requirements of the conservation reserve program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture in order to ensure that suitable land under the program is eligible for suitable uses relating to the grazing by livestock, with report of committee recommending passage, was taken up for consideration. Senator Banks moved the adoption of Senate Resolution 16, which motion prevailed by a voice vote. CONSIDERATION OF BILL (Regular Calendar) Senate File 2012 On motion of Senator Bisignano, Senate File 2012, a bill for an act relating to the conduct of raffles, with report of committee recommending passage, was taken up for consideration. Senator Halvorson offered amendment S-5138 filed by him from the floor to page 1 of the bill and moved its adoption. A non record roll call was requested. The ayes were 20, nays 24.
