FIFTEENTH CALENDAR DAY NINTH SESSION DAY Senate Chamber Des Moines, Iowa, Monday, January 26, 1998 The Senate met in regular session at 1:04 p.m., President Kramer presiding. Prayer was offered by the Reverend Henry J. Koopman, pastor of Zion Lutheran and St. Peter Lutheran Churches of Auburn and Sac City, Iowa. The Journal of Thursday, January 22, 1998, was approved. QUORUM CALL Senator Iverson requested a non-record roll call to determine that a quorum was present. The vote revealed 43 present, 6 absent and a quorum present. CONSIDERATION OF BILL (Ways and Means Calendar) Senator Iverson asked and received unanimous consent to take up for consideration Senate File 2061. Senate File 2061 On motion of Senator Douglas, Senate File 2061, a bill for an act relating to a delay in implementing the inclusion of certain information on property tax statements by providing a deferral application process and providing an effective date, was taken up for consideration. LEAVE OF ABSENCE Leave of absence was granted as follows: Senator Flynn until he arrives, on request of Senator Connolly. SPECIAL GUEST Senator Palmer presented Jamie Solinger, Miss Iowa Teen and Miss Teen USA 1992 from Altoona, Iowa. Ms. Solinger addressed the Senate with brief remarks. LEAVES OF ABSENCE Leaves of absence were granted as follows: Senators Dearden and McCoy until they arrive, on request of Senator Gronstal. BUSINESS PENDING Senate File 2061 The Senate resumed consideration of Senate File 2061. Senator Douglas moved that the bill be read the last time now and placed upon its passage, which motion prevailed by a voice vote, and the bill was read the last time. On the question "Shall the bill pass?"
