    22 RELATING TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A REPOSITORY FOR CRIMINAL
    24    HISTORY, ABUSE AND SEX OFFENDER REGISTRIES, AND NURSE
    26    AIDE AND OTHER HEALTH PROFESSION CERTIFICATION AND
    28    LICENSING INFORMATION.

    32 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

    36 MARGINS	L
    38    Section 1.  SINGLE CONTACT REPOSITORY.
    40    1.  The department of inspections and appeals shall lead a
    42 joint effort with the departments of human services, public
    50 health, elder affairs, and public safety to plan the
    60 development of a single contact repository to permit
    70 employers, political subdivisions, and state agencies to
    80 obtain the following information with one contact:
    90    a.  Health professional licensing.
   100    b.  Nurse aide registry.
   110    c.  Child abuse registry.
   120    d.  Dependent adult abuse registry.
   130    e.  Criminal history data.
   140    f.  Sex offender registry.
   150    2.  The department of inspections and appeals, in
   160 cooperation with the other departments listed in subsection 1,
   170 shall report to the general assembly on or before January 15,
   180 1998, concerning progress in planning for the development of
   190 the repository.  The report shall address any statutory
   200 changes and funding necessary for implementation of the
   210 repository, accessibility requirements, and a proposed
   220 implementation schedule.
