Senator from the Thirty-fifth District, composed of the county of Dubuque, was born on the Island of Fohr, in the Province of Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, September 10, 1854. His education was acquired in the schools of the Fatherland. He emigrated to the United States in the spring of 1871 after the Franco-Prussian War, arriving in Clinton, Iowa, early in June. For the first two years he worked on a farm in Jackson county, Iowa; from there he went to work at the sash and door business until the summer of 1888, when he engaged in the lumber business for himself under the name of the Frudden Lumber Company, of which firm he is still the president and general manager. Was married in Clinton, November 30, 1877. Represented Dubuque county as a member of the House in the Twenty-ninth, Thirtieth and Thirty-first General Assemblies and was elected Senator in 1906. A Democrat in politics.
