Corbett in the chair.
Prayer was offered by Father John Ludwig, pastor of St.
Catherine of Siena, Des Moines.
The Journal of Wednesday, January 14, 1998 was approved.
PETITION FILED
The following petition was received and placed on file:
By Holmes of Scott from approximately 250 people favoring an
open dove season in the state of Iowa.
INTRODUCTION OF BILLS
House File 2045, by Millage and Thomson, a bill for an act
relating to policies on extracurricular activities adopted by
school districts and accredited nonpublic schools.
Read first time and referred to committee on education.
House File 2046, by Tyrrell, a bill for an act relating to
the disbursement of child support payments made to the clerk of
the district court or to the collection services center by
providing for direct deposit of the payments in an account and
documentation of transactions against the account, and providing
penalties and effective dates.
Read first time and referred to committee on human resources.
House File 2047, by Tyrrell, a bill for an act establishing
the offense of criminal voyeurism and providing a penalty.
Read first time and referred to committee on judiciary.
House File 2048, by Richardson, a bill for an act providing
for a modified full-year school calendar grant program, and
making an appropriation.
Read first time and referred to committee on education.
MESSAGE FROM THE SENATE
The following message was received from the Senate:
Mr. Speaker: I am directed to inform your honorable body that
the Senate has on January 14, 1998, passed the following bill in
which the concurrence of the House is asked:
Senate File 2022, a bill for an act relating to the authority of
the state transportation commission to temporarily transfer
revitalize Iowa's sound economy (RISE) funds to the primary road
fund and providing an effective date.

HOUSE FILE 390 WITHDRAWN
Gipp of Winneshiek asked and received unanimous consent to
withdraw House File 390 from further consideration by the House.
HOUSE FILE 2035 REREFERRED
The Speaker announced that House File 2035, previously referred
to committee on ways and means was rereferred to committee on
local government.
