2 17 Sec. 5. APPLICABILITY. The state department of
2 18 transportation may continue to use a social security number on
2 19 a license or persons with disabilities parking permit only
2 20 until the license or permit is renewed on or after the
2 21 effective date of this Act. This section does not apply to
  2 22 commercial driver's licenses.
  2 23 EXPLANATION
2 24 This bill prohibits the state department of transportation
2 25 from using social security numbers as the distinguishing
2 26 number appearing on driver's licenses and persons with

2 28 to commercial driver's licenses. Social security numbers
2 29 would need to be deleted from such licenses and permits upon
2 30 renewal on or after the effective date of the bill.
