Reuben Alexander Moser
Taylor County
Born October 9, 1825, near Bethlehem, Northampton Co., Pennsylvania and died February 9, 1884 at Bedford, Taylor Co., Iowa. He was the son of Peter Moser and Magdalene Harlacher He married Rebecca Ann Raynolds February 22, 1849 near Lucasville, Scioto Co., Ohio. In the spring of 1850 he removed to Iowa, locating in Lucas County, where he lived until 1856, when he came to Taylor county and here continued to reside until the time of his death. He was a man of good natural ability and of considerable attainments, and was highly esteemed in the community. Among other positions of trust held by him at various times, he represented Taylor County in the legislature for two terms at the beginning of the rebellion. He was for many years engaged in general merchandising in Bedford and was a considerable contractor for the work on the Creston branch of the C. B. & Q. railroad at the time it was built, but for a number of years past ill health has compelled his retirement from active pursuits.
