Born on April 23, 1811 to Matthew Hedges and Abigail Oak Hedges in ME. He married Jane Titus on November 6 1839. He was a farmer and real estate salesman in Sioux City, Woodbury and Lee County, Iowa. He moved to Lee County, Iowa between 1857-1861. He was sheriff of Lee County and Director of National Bank in Des Moines, IA. He represented Lee county in the Eighth and Twelfth General Assemblies 1860 and 1866. Mr. Hedges was a Democrat in politics.
