Married Cynthia Cline, 1972. One son. Member of U.S. Army Reserves since 1968. Received George Washington Honor Medal Award, Freedoms Foundation 1972. Member: United Methodist Church, Urbandale Jaycees, Polk County Republican Central Committee, Des Moines Art Center, American Civil Liberties Union, Ripon Society, and Academy of Political Science. First term.
