Waterloo Black Hawk County Democrat Born Dec. 14, 1936, in Omaha, Neb., son of Vernon Ewell and Mrs. Ralph Hirst. Attended Missouri Valley Elementary and Missouri Valley High School 1954. Graduated from Iowa State Teachers 1958 with a B.A. degree in physical education and biological sciences. Married Sharon Head in Tama 1958. Children: Brent Ewell, 8; and Michael, 4 months. Employed as a teacher of mentally and physically handicapped children. Roman Catholic. Member of Iowa State Education and National Education Association. National Association Retarded Children, Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, St. Vincent De Paul Society. Director of Recreation, Elk Run Heights; Iowa Chairman, St. Nicholas School Board; Evansdale, Iowa. Member Columbus High School Lay Board, Waterloo, Iowa. Employed by Waterloo School District 1958-1965, Black Hawk County Schools 1965-1968. Sports writer for Evansdale Enterprise. Serving first term.
