Graduated from University of Michigan, B.A. degree, majoring in Business Administration. Married Helen Hayes and they have three children, James, Ruth and Linda. Banker and owns and operates with tenant a 500 acre farm in Appanoose and Monroe Counties. Formerly cashier, Garden Grove Trust and Savings Bank, 1928-31; examiner in charge of closed banks under the State Banking Department, 1931-35. Presently president of Peoples National Bank since 1935; Trustee, Iowa State University Foundation Farms; president of Ringgold Inc.; member of Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Albia Chamber of Commerce, Albia Country Club; and treasurer, Albia Industrial Development Corporation 1956-1967. Elected to first term.
