Unionville Republican Third Senatorial District Appanoose and Davis Counties. Born in Centerville, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1922. Married Geraldine Harrington, Unionville, Iowa. Four children: Rebecca, 14; Mary Jo, 11; Daniel, 8; Beth, 3. Attended high school in Unionville. Graduated from Centerville Junior College in 1942. Enlisted in the U. S. Navy Flight Program. Commissioned as ensign in navy in 1943. Released to inactive duty in 1945, receiving distinguished flying cross during World War II in Pacific. Attended University of Washington in 1948. Sent to Korea with First Reserve Air Group. Purchased farm on which he now resides near Unionville. Raising Hereford cattle, sheep and hogs. Member of Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Beef Producers, fair board, watershed committee, American Legion, Masons and school community association, 4-H leader. Serving first term in Senate.
