Unionville Republican Third (Old) Senatorial District, Appanoose and Davis Counties. Born in Centerville, Iowa, Nov. 1, 1922. Married Geraldine Harrington, Unionville, Iowa. Four children: Rebecca, 16; Mary Jo, 13; Daniel, 10; Beth, 5. Attended high school in Unionville. Graduated from Centerville Junior College in 1942. Commissioned as ensign in navy in 1943. Received distinguished flying cross during World War II in Pacific. Attended University of Washington in 1948. Sent to Korea with First Reserve Air Group. Released to inactive duty as Lt. commander in 1953. Purchased farm on which he now resides near Unionville. Raising Hereford cattle, sheep and hogs. Member of Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, American Legion, Masons, School Community Association, 4-H leader, watershed committee. Worked as Investors Diversified Services representative in 1962. Serving first term, second session, in senate.
