Republican 48th Senatorial District Carroll, Greene and Sac Counties. A farmer and farm implement dealer, born on an Ida county, Iowa, farm in 1907 into the A. H. Benson family of four children. Attended Ida Grove high school and Iowa State Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering college in class of 1931. Later returned in 1941 and took additional training in Agricultural Engineering. In 1928 married to Helen M. Custer of Jefferson and has one son, Donald. After college he was employed in Chief Engineers office of N.W. Bell Telephone Co., later moving to half section Greene County farm where he now resides. Organization committee member of Greene County R.E.A. and Cattle Feeders Association. Member of Mid Winter Club, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Conservation League and Baptist Church. Staff member of Iowa State Guard, Civil Air Patrol), and N.W. Iowa Boy Scout Council. Chairman of J. C. C. National Farm Youth committee 1934-35-36. Received Community Service Award in 1934 and Master Corn Growers Award in 1938. Listed in Who's Who of America's Young Men 1934-35. Serving second term in Senate.
