Married Helen Mae Custer of Jefferson, 1928; one son, Donald. Attended Ida Grove high school and Iowa State College of Engineering, completing aeronautics course, 1931. Returned in 1941 and studied agricultural engineering, 1931-33, employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Since then has lived on Greene County farm. Member of Greene County Conservation League and Iowa Flying Farmers, Masonic Lodge, Baptist Church and Jefferson Rotary Club, Jefferson County Club. 1938, elected to Iowa Senate, appointed chairman Iowa Senate Aeronautics Committee. Member of the 48th, 49th, 50th, 50th Extra, 51st, 52nd, 52nd Extra and 53rd sessions.

Attended Ida Grove high school and Iowa State Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering college in class of 1931. Later returned in 1941 and took additional training in Agricultural Engineering. In 1928 married to Helen M. Custer of Jefferson and has one son, Donald. After college he was employed in Chief Engineers office of N.W. Bell Telephone Co., later moving to half section Greene County farm where he now resides. Organization committee member of Greene County R.E.A. and Cattle Feeders Association. Member of Mid Winter Club, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Conservation League and Baptist Church. Staff member of Iowa State Guard, Civil Air Patrol), and N.W. Iowa Boy Scout Council. Chairman of J. C. C. National Farm Youth committee 1934-35-36. Received Community Service Award in 1934 and Master Corn Growers Award in 1938. Listed in Who's Who of America's Young Men 1934-35. Serving second term in Senate.

Jefferson. Republican 48th Senatorial District Carroll, Greene and Sac Counties. Born on a farm in Ida county, 1907, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthon H. Benson. Completed aeronautic engineering course at Iowa State College. For two years a designing and standards engineer with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. Later he became a farm owner and manager, specializing in corn improvement and cattle feeding on a Greene county farm established by members of his family before the Civil War. Received the Iowa Master Corn Growers Award and Distinguished Community Service Award. Served as chairman of National Farm Youth Committee for two years; president of Jefferson Junior Chamber of Commerce; organization member of Greene County Cattle Feeders, Conservation and R.E.A.organizations. Married Helen Custer in 1928; father of one son. Served as leader in 4-H work, Northwest Iowa Christian young peoples organizations, and as president of his local independent school board. Member of the Jefferson Country Club, Rotary Club and Masonic lodge. Serving first term in Senate.
