Jefferson Republican 48th Senatorial District Carroll, Greene and Sac Counties. Born on an Ida county farm in 1907, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthon H. Benson. Graduate of Ida Grove high school and Iowa State college. After two years in engineers office of Northwestern Bell, became owner and operator of Greene county farm. Served on organization board Greene County Cattle Feeder's Association. Helped organize Greene county R.E.A. Past president school board, Greene county Sunday School Council, Jefferson Federal Savings and Loan Association, and Jefferson Junior Chamber of Commerce. Served two years as chairman of National Farm Youth Committee. Served in 4-H leader work and N.W. Iowa Young Peoples Christian organizations. Received Distinguished Community Service Award in 1934. Member Jefferson Country Club, Mid-Winter Club, Farm Bureau, Rotary Club, Conservation League, Baptist church and Masonic Lodge. Married Helen M. Custer in 1928 and has one son. Serving second session in Senate.
