Member of the city council for four years. Member of the board of education three years; president of board one year. Secretary and treasurer of the Clinton real estate board for fifteen years. Secretary and General Manager of Clinton Plate Glass Association for seventeen years; also is engaged in insurance and real estate business. Appointed Clinton postmaster by President Hoover in 1932. Member of all Masonic bodies and O. E. S. Past Exalted Ruler B.P.O.E.; Past Noble Grand I. O. O. F.; member of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. Married January 20, 1909, to Ethel May Bohart of Clinton; father of one son, Dr. A. B. Henningsen. Elected to the Iowa senate in 1938.
