Representative from Decatur county, was born May 8, 1865, in the township where he now resides. He spent two years on one of his father's farms in Union county. Was educated in the rural schools and in the high school of Leon. Taught school during the winter months. Was married to Emma Wolff of Libertyville, Iowa, September 7, 1892. Has been a breeder of registered Jersey cattle and Chester White hogs and an active member of different pure bred live stock associations. He is a member of the Brethren church. Elected representative in 1916. Re-elected in 1918. A democrat in politics.
