Elected representative in 1916. Re-elected in 1918. A democrat in politics.

His father was eight and his mother four years of age when they came with their parents to Iowa. He was educated in the rural schools and in the high school of Leon. His ancestors for two hundred years have been members of the Church of the Brethren and he has been a member of this church for many years. He has eight living children. Has been a farmer all his life. Never held an important political office. A democrat in politics.
