Diagonal Ringgold-Taylor Counties Republican. Born May 18, 1912, in Ringgold County. Son of Dr. and Mrs. E. J. Watson, M.D. Educated in Diagonal public schools; attended Creston Junior College, Simpson College and University of Iowa. Served in United States Navy. Married 1939 and has six children: Dixie (Mrs. Jack Taylor), Kay (Mrs. Larry Pratt), Ann (Mrs. William Warin), Jay, Steve and Mark. Member of Methodist Church, Lions, Masons, American Legion and Farm Bureau. Member of American Bankers Assn., Independent Bankers Assn., Iowa Bankers Assn., Bluegrass Bankers Assn., Independent Insurance Agents Assn. Served on local Board of Education, County Board of Education, Director Area 14 Area Vocational Technical School Board, County Extension Board, Ringgold County Hospital Board, Director Ringgold County Industrial Development Board. Engaged in insurance business for 20 years and banking for 21 years, presently president of First State Bank, Diagonal, Iowa. Serving first term.
