Wapello county will be represented this winter by a man who has been a resident of the state a little more than half a century, Hon. G. W. Dickins, of Hedrick. While representing Wapello county, his post office address is Hedrick, in the adjoining county of Keokuk. Mr. Dickins was born in Wyandot county, Ohio, September 18, 1843. He has been married twice, the second wife being Miss Martha C. Ellis. Five children were born of these two marriages, all of whom are living. This winter will not be Mr. Dickins' first experience in legislative work, as he was a valued house member of the Nineteenth General Assembly. His vote has always been with the republican party, as through it he has held most of the offices of the township in which he lives, also a position on the county board of supervisors. He was also a member of the world's agricultural congress during the world's fair. He is a trustee of the Central university at Pella. Mr. Dickins is an enthusiastic G. A. R. member and served during the war in Company I, First Iowa cavalry. He is a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Dickins will take especial interest in all legislation pertaining to the state's expenses, wanting them reduced as much as is conservative with good government.
