Mr. Brown lived in Dumont since the year 1867, and has seen Pittsford Township grow from a sparsely settled community to one now generously peopled and containing many farms not to be surpassed by any other section of northern Iowa. He is a man of education and discernment. Well informed in local affairs he takes a great interest in the history of Butler County and while this work was in preparation very kindly consented to contribute his recollections of the salient events which have come under his notice since residing here. He represented Butler County in the Nineteenth and Twentieth General Assembly, 1884.
