Served on school board, town council, as township assessor, and on Poweshiek County Conservation Board. Was Poweshiek County Republican chairman. State Republican financial director 1960-61, and fund-raising dinner chairman March, 1960. Member of national Republican finance committee 1960-61. Served in almost all Legion offices and was Iowa department commander of American Legion 1956-57. State chairman of Radio Free Europe, 1963-64. Senate member on governor's advisory committee on conservation. Senate member of Legislative Research Committee. Chairman of the Bank Recodification Committee. Secretary and member on uniform commercial code study committee. Elected Nov., 1962. Resigned from Iowa Senate to accept position as Commissioner of State Commerce Commission July 1, 1969.
