Keokuk Republican 50th Senatorial District, Lee and Van Buren Counties. Born August 5, 1917, Goodrich, North Dakota, son of James E. and Helen W. Davis. Educated Bismarck Senior High School, graduated from University of Minnesota with degree in mechanical engineering. Registered engineer in Iowa and Indiana. Received American Society of Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineers ALCO award for distinguished public service in 1969. Married Enid Dygert of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in October, 1942. Four children. Engineer, contractor, real estate developer, ranching- and farming interests. Member of Rotary, Presbyterian Church of Keokuk, Boy Scout Council board member and recipient of Silver Beaver Award. Served two years in South Pacific on civilian engineering: assignments with the Navy at Pearl Harbor and with Air Force at Saipan. Elected to Iowa Senate for one year term in special election 1969, reelected In 1970.
