Senator from the seventh district composed of Page and Fremont counties, was born in Jefferson county, Iowa, March 13th, 1878. Removed to Fremont county, Iowa, with his parents in 1884, where he was reared and educated in the public schools. Elected to the senate as a republican on the democratic ticket in 1930, was re-elected in 1932, but having been refused a seat in the republican senate caucus in the 1931 session, reversed his party affiliation, and acted with the democrats in the 1933 session. He is engaged in business, farming and stock raising, and is a member of the Masonic lodge.

Educated in the country schools, a farmer and breeder of shorthorn cattle. Member of the Masonic fraternity, associated with the May Seed and Nursery Company as a speaker on farm matters. Republican in politics. Elected state senator in 1930.
