Knoxville Democrat 15th Senatorial District Marion and Monroe Counties. Born on farm in Marion County, Iowa, July 3, 1905. Graduated from Knoxville high school in 1924. Attended Iowa Wesleyan college at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, two and one-half years. Farmed one year and entered Drake law school in 1928. Graduated with LL.B. degree in 1930; Claim adjustor with the Southern Surety company of New York for two years, then entered general practice of law at Knoxville. Served as mayor of Knoxville in '32 and '33; city attorney in '34 and '35; and county attorney for Marion county for eight years thereafter. A member of the Methodist church, Masonic lodge, I.O.O.F. lodge, Farm Bureau, Izaak Walton league; also member of Lamba Chi Alpha, social fraternity, and Phi Alpha Delta, legal fraternity. Engaged in the general practice of law in Knoxville since 1932. Is now a member of the law firm of Miller and Sinnard. Served in the Senate during the 55th General Assembly. Married Esther E. Todd of Ottumwa 1933; two daughters, Eleanor, senior at Simpson, Elizabeth Ruth, in high school. Appointed by Gov. Hoegh to Iowa Tax Commission.
