Has served as president of the Associated Advertising Clubs of Iowa, Society of Iowa Florists, Iowa State Horticultural Society and district governor of the Nebraska-Iowa Kiwanis clubs; for eight years a member of the Mason City council. A member of the Odd Fellows, Masonic fraternities and Congregational church. Owned and operated Kemble's greenhouses at Mason City and New Hampton, Iowa, and Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Was president of the Klipto Loose Leaf company for 15 years. Member of budget and financial control committee of 54th, 55th and 56th General Assemblies. Served in the 46th, 46th Extra, 48th, 49th, 50th, 50th Extra, 51st, 52nd, 53rd, 54th, 55th and 56th General Assemblies.
