Attended public schools at Harvey, Illinois, and a Chicago business college. Married June 30, 1910, to Lillian Robinson of Harvey. They have three children, Mrs. Ray Davis, Harvey; Mrs. Weston Thompson and George E. Heideman, both of Rockwell City; and six grandchildren. In earlier years he was employed in sheet metal and machine shops. For 20 years he was engaged in coal and feed retailing business. The past 10 years have been spent in operating a 200-acre farm in partnership with his son, George. A Methodist, having served 35 years as a member of the official board. Past president of Rotary club and other civic organizations. Past president of Calhoun county farm bureau. Serving his second term in the Senate.
