Attended Iowa State University at Ames, 1921 to 1925. Farmer operating 440 acres in Grove township, Taylor County. Served two terms on Lenox school board and two terms on Lenox city council. Member of the Christian Church at Lenox. A Master Mason and member of Eastern Star, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Des Moines, and Rotary International. Married Dorothy I. Wynn in 1926. Two children: Richard L. Walter, farmer, Lenox, Iowa, and Mary Joan Hall, Estherville, Iowa. Nine grandchildren. Second session in senate.
