Past and present director and chairman of a number of state and national livestock organizations. Past director of Iowa Farm Bureau and affiliated companies, 1946-1958. Past member of the Research Advisory Committee to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the board of Westminster Fellowship of Higher Learning of the three state colleges. Member of the board of trustees, Buena Vista College, Storm Lake. Served on the Iowa Natural Resources Council. Past director Little Sioux River and Floyd River Watershed; honorary member Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, Block and Bridle Club, Iowa State University. Member and elder, First Presbyterian Church. Member Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and Abu Bekr Temple. Serving third session in senate.
