Graduate of Guthrie Center High School and American University of Commerce, attended Des Moines University. On active duty more than five years in World War II, retiring in 1955 as a lieutenant colonel of infantry. A graduate of the Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Married Else M. Sorensen. Two children: Mrs. Robert Knudsen and Mrs. Robert Burnett. Past president of Lions Club and Guthrie Center Chamber of Commerce, county chairman of American Red Cross for three years and county civil defense director two years. Clerk of the district court for eight years, precinct committeeman six years and county Republican finance chairman for the past nine years. Member and trustee of the First Methodist Church, Mason, Consistory member, Shriner, American Legion, past grand patron of the Eastern Star of Iowa. Serving second session.
