INTERACTIVE DRUG PRICING EXERCISE
WITH SENATE/HOUSE HUMAN RESOURCES COMMITTEES
With drug pricing a hot topic in the media and discussions around some state capitals, IowaBio member Celgene is holding hands-on, interactive drug pricing exercises to educate legislators and other stakeholders in the public policy arena about the complexities of drug discovery. The exercise will give participants a first-person perspective on being CEO of a biopharmaceutical company, including making decisions for research and development and pricing a new innovative medicine.
Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the various complex factors involved when making these important decisions, and throughout the exercise you will have to vote on key decisions for your company with the opportunity to discuss these decisions with fellow participants for a deeper understanding of the complexity of the biopharmaceutical business and bringing innovative medicines to patients.
We have a panel of representatives from Celgene, the University of Iowa School of Pharmacy, the American Cancer Society and PhRMA available to conduct this hour-long exercise with your Committee at 3 pm on Tuesday, March 20th in the Legislative Dining Room.
Subcommittee assignments will be passed out to committee members
