         House File 2497, a bill for  an act relating to the compensation
    and benefits for public officials and employees and making
    appropriations.

         This bill was read first time and assigned to the committee on
    Appropriations.

         House File 2498, a bill for  an act relating to entities and
    subject matter under the regulatory authority of the division of
    insurance, including prearranged funeral contracts, cemeteries,
    residential service contracts, and business opportunities, and
    establishing fees.

         This bill was read first time and passed on file.

         ALSO: That the members of the Conference Committee, appointed April
    12, 1996, on House File 2449, a bill for  an act setting campaign
    contribution limits by persons and political committees, addressing
    independent expenditures on behalf of candidates, employee and member
    contributions, making penalties applicable, and providing an effective
    date, on the part of the House are: The Representative from  Winneshiek,
    Mr. Gipp, Chair; the Representative from Polk, Mrs. Jacobs; the
    Representative from Dubuque, Ms. Jochum; the Representative from
    Wapello, Mr.  Moreland; the Representative from Grundy, Mr. Renken.



                           INTRODUCTION OF RESOLUTIONS

         Senate Resolution 115, by committee on Commerce, a senate
    resolution honoring the memory and efforts of United States Secretary of
    Commerce Ronald H. Brown.

         Read first time and placed on calendar.

         Senate Concurrent Resolution 120, by Dvorsky, Neuhauser, and
    Hammond, a concurrent resolution honoring Ms. Jorie Graham, the 1996
    Pulitizer Prize winner in the field of poetry.

         Read first time and assigned to the committee on Education.

         Senate Concurrent Resolution 121, by Dvorsky and Neuhauser, a
    senate concurrent resolution congratulating Coach Dan Gable and the
    University of Iowa Hawkeye Wrestling Team for winning the National
    Collegiate Athletic Associations 1996 team championship.

         Read first time and assigned to the committee on Education.
