                      COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION POLICY

         Pursuant to Senate Rule 59, the committee on Communications and
    Information Policy assigned to investigate the following governors
    appointments, completed its investigations on March 6, 1996, and
    recommended the appointees be confirmed:

         Mary A. Nelson as a member and Richard H. Opie as a member and
    Chair of the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission.



                            PRESENTATION OF VISITORS

         The Chair welcomed the following visitors who were present in the
    Senate gallery:

         Twenty-three fifth grade students from Westridge Elementary School,
    West Des Moines, accompanied by Mrs. Lake. Senator Kramer.
