House Resolution 18 - Introduced

An Act 1urging the United States Congress to
2revise legislation impacting and limiting the use of
3incandescent light bulbs.
4WHEREAS, incandescent light bulbs have proven to be
5a safe, dependable, and efficient source of lighting
6for decades;and
7WHEREAS, consumer choice and consumer freedom is an
8important component of our free market system;and
9WHEREAS, Congress enacted the Energy Independence
10and Security Act in 2007;and
11WHEREAS, the Act created regulations that, for
12all practical purposes, banned the use of standard
13incandescent light bulbs by establishing increased
14minimum energy efficiency standards for general
15lamps;and
16WHEREAS, the overregulation of industry can result
17in limitations on consumer choice and freedom;NOW
18THEREFORE,
   19BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
20the House of Representatives urges Congress to revise
21provisions in the Energy Independence and Security
22Act of 2007 which impacted and limited the use of
23incandescent light bulbs.
