Senate Resolution 5 - Introduced
An Act 1honoring Theresa Kehoe for her dedicated
2service to the Senate and the General Assembly.
3WHEREAS, Theresa Kehoe’s more than 30 years of
4service to the Senate and the Iowa General Assembly is
5now coming to a close;and
6WHEREAS, since joining the Senate caucus staff in
71986, Theresa has served the Senate in myriad roles,
8including staff support for the Natural Resources and
9Environment, Ethics, Education, State Government, and
10Appropriations Committees, and also the Agriculture and
11Natural Resources and Transportation, Infrastructure
12and Capitals Budget Subcommittees;and
13WHEREAS, Theresa’s knowledge, expertise,
14professionalism, and upbeat nature ably served
15the Senate and the General Assembly in assisting
16lawmakers in fulfilling their constitutional lawmaking
17duties;and
18WHEREAS, Theresa has served as a valued mentor for
19new staff members and Senators by providing good advice
20and counsel regarding the history and traditions of
21the Senate as well as providing expert guidance on the
22lawmaking process;and
23WHEREAS, Theresa’s long and able assistance as a
24valuable staff member for the Senate and the Iowa
25General Assembly was recognized by her inclusion as an
26honorary Pioneer Lawmaker;and
27WHEREAS, Theresa has justly earned the right to
28forgo countless subcommittee and committee meetings,
-1-1caucuses, and late-night floor debates in the Senate to
2spend more time with her husband, Bobby Bailey, and her
3children and grandchildren;NOW THEREFORE,
4BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
5recognizes Theresa Kehoe for her extraordinary and
6long-term public service and her unsurpassed devotion
7to the Senate and to the General Assembly as the
8state’s lawmaking institution, and upon her retirement
9from the Senate caucus staff, wishes her the very best
10in the years ahead.
