3BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1 Section 1. Section 280.33, subsection 5, Code 2024, is
2amended by adding the following new paragraph:
3 NEW PARAGRAPH. e. Permitting coaching staff and personnel
4from accessing locker rooms before, during, or after athletic
5events or practices.
6EXPLANATION
7The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
8the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
9Current law prohibits a person from entering a multiple
10occupancy restroom or changing area that does not correspond
11with the person’s sex, with some exceptions. This bill creates
12a new exception and permits coaching staff and personnel to
13access locker rooms designated for the opposite sex before,
14during, or after athletic events or practices.
