2BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
1   Section 1.  Section 481C.2A, subsection 5, paragraph b, Code
22024, is amended to read as follows:
   3b.  In addition to other times the department finds
4necessary, the department shall allow licenses and permits
5issued pursuant to this section to be used in the months of
6September, October, November, and December. Additionally,
7the department shall allow licenses issued pursuant to this
8section to be used in any county during the same time period
9as the January antlerless deer only hunting season established
10pursuant to section 483A.8, subsection 9, even if the county
11in which the license is used does not qualify for the January
12antlerless deer only hunting season.

13EXPLANATION
14The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
15the explanation’s substance by the members of the general assembly.
   16This bill relates to the use of deer depredation licenses.
17Current law requires the department of natural resources (DNR)
18to allow deer depredation licenses to be used in the months of
19September, October, November, and December. The bill requires
20DNR to also allow the use of deer depredation licenses in any
21county during the same time period as the January antlerless
22deer only hunting season established pursuant to Code section
23483A.8(9), even if the county in which the license is used
24does not qualify for the January antlerless deer only hunting
25season.
